James MacArthur was a son of Charles MacArthur b.1771, and Flora MacArthur.
James married Catherine MacCormick, daughter of Neil MacCormick and Flora MacDonald, on 10th October 1850. They had seven sons and two daughters. They lived at Sligneach, on Iona, and were crofters.
The Culbhuirg MacInnes's are descended from James and Catherine. One of their daughters, Christina MacArthur, married John MacInnes, and their son was Peter MacInnes ( Culbhuirg ) 1903-1993.
James died at West End Iona on 18th March 1912, at the age of 95yrs. His son Finlay MacArthur ( Leith ) signed his death record.
Catherine died on18th January 1923, at the age of 100yrs.
