John MacCormick was the second son of James MacCormick 1776, and Marrion Graham.

John married Catherine Cameron from Morven.

John died 19th January 1859, in Bunessan at the age of 45yrs.

Notes on John McCormick b. 1811

John McCormick born 1811 was one of four known children of James and Marrion Graham. James and Marrion married 9 Feb 1808.

One brother was Alexander McCormick baptized 27 March 1809.

John married Catherine Cameron (b. 1820 in Morvin) in abt. 1845 in Kintra. (IGI records show for date of marriage c1848. The 1845 came from George.)

A son of John and Catherine was James (this is G's line). James born 1847 Kilfinichen and went to the Glasgow area (date unknown) and married Christina Cooper 1872. James was listed as age 25 on his marriage certificate (therefore born in 1847 and his parents were listed as John McCormick and Catherine Cameron). This 1872 marriage took place in Swinton Baillieston or Old Monkland.. A son of James and Christina was James b 1882 in Glasglow (G's grandfather). This James spent 17 years in the British Army but after WW2, he and his wife Lydia went to Toronto, Canada and spent the rest of their lives in Quebec City, Canada. 1851 census - John McCormick age 37 (born about 1814) in Kilfinichen and wife Catherine age 30 born Morvern, living at Kentra with son James age 4 and son John age 1, both children born Kilfinichen.

1861 census - page 2 of District 6 in the Village of Bunessan and in household #9 - Catherine McCormick, head of household, 36 years old, widow of retired grocer and born at Morven. James, son, age 15, a scholar, born Kilfinichen. John, son, age 13, a scholar, born Kilfinichen. Mary, daughter, age 9, a scholar, born Kilfinichen. Marrian, daughter, age 7, a scholar, born Kilfinichen. Eury?, daughter, age 4, born Kilfinichen. John Angus, son, age 2, born Kilfinichen.

John McCormick death record: John McCormick, married, died 19 January 1859 4:00 AM in Bunessan. He was listed as male, age 45. His father was James McCormick, occupation crofter, deceased while his mother Marrion was not listed as deceased. Note at bottom says "Burial ground of Kilpatrick as certified by Dugald McMaster and Cousin Jerman or Garmin"
